Third week in of our 'Work Life' insta coverage last week; So we decided to celebrate by chatting with the beautiful super foodie that is, Lise Aanes

How Discovered: I originally wanted to register with a Norwegian casting company as an actress! They convinced me to try modelling instead - I was just about to turn 17.

How is 2016 shaping up for you so far?

It's been great! I am in love, very focused on my work and my studies, and at the same time I can't wait to escape the winter and travel to Peru in just ten days.

We definitely need to talk about your foodie obsession. Fill us in..

I've always loved cooking and eating, but over the past few years my hobby has taken a more serious turn, and last year I made the leap and began part time studies to become a holistic nutritionist, healing diets advisor, and also launching a food website! (

How exciting! What kind of things can we expect to find on your new website?

I want to help people make conscious decisions to heal themselves and heal the planet by eating organic, seasonal and mostly plant based foods, and show others that eating well doesn't have to be boring! I want to share anything from kombucha recipes to juicer reviews and tips. I also want to reach out to likeminded people in order to organise talks, workshops and other fun stuff!

Why is nutrition important to you?

What we put in our bodies is important to anyone and I have especially noticed this as a professional model. When you are constantly on the move and trying to keep your energy levels up, your skin glowing and your muscles replenishing, it is super important to know what different foods will do to your body. I hope I can inspire others to eat in a way that maintains their look and at the same time makes them feel comforted and nourished. 

Whats always in your fridge?

Like any true Norwegian, I am obsessed with butter. It makes everything taste better! Butter is a good, whole fat that gives lots of energy throughout the day and helps the body assimilate fat soluble vitamins efficiently! I'm not a fan of low fat foods. I also love almonds - they are great for gluten free baking, to sprinkle over porridge, turn into milk and nut butter, make into a quiche base or a crumble, and the high vitamin E content is just great for the skin.

Fave recipe?

Wow, that’s hard. I hardly ever cook the same thing twice! Right now there are some gorgeous blood oranges in season and I made a delicious kale, blood orange, avocado and fennel salad the other day with just a bit of lemon and olive oil on top. So simple yet refreshing in these cold winter months.

Your a massive Yoga fan (serious shapes being made on insta girl!), is it all about a healthy mind, healthy body for you?

I'm big on the healthy mind thing, then the body will follow. If you hate going to the gym you will never be naturally fit, but if you do what you love it doesn't feel like a chore. It took a long time for me to find a physical hobby to love, but I love yoga! I think that the best part of a yoga class is that you are allowed to focus only on yourself and your breath for a whole hour; such an indulgence in modern society

What is your biggest inspiration and why?

My parents, because they have taught me about will power, gallows humour and to have faith in myself.

What is your most memorable modelling job to date?

The first gig I ever landed abroad was a bridal story for Italian Vogue. Great way to kick off a career! We shot out of town and I got put in a hotel suite where I spent the entire evening sitting in the hot tub of my room.

What are your model must haves?

Books! We models have to wait in line a lot and we also have a serious amount of travel time in order to get to castings or fly out to jobs. I usually carry a serious book and an entertaining one; right now it's ‘A Cancer Therapy by Max Gerson’ and ‘The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro’.

Who is your ultimate style icon?

I don’t have anyone particular in mind, but I suppose I am heavily influenced by French 60s films a lá Godard: high waists, stripes and navy blue all the way!

What are you obsessed with right now?

Well, I am pretty obsessed with my nutrition course to be honest! It has opened up a world of learning for me that I did not think possible, and I will never look at food the same way again.

What do you think is the key to a good work / life balance?

To sit down at a table for every meal, to make time for my yoga and meditation practise and to find days for me and my man to have some quiet time together in our house or our garden.

Whats currently on your playlist?

I usually prefer podcasts to music; I love the feminist podcast Stuff ‘Mom Never Told You’ and the ‘New Yorker Fiction Podcast’.

What couldn't you live without?

Coconut oil! I use it for frying, baking, in energy bars, as a body lotion, massage oil, hair mask, makeup remover, in foot baths, to make body scrubs and lip balms..basically everything..

Tell us a secret…

I have always been obsessed with the Harry Potter saga. I still re-read the books regularly and every time I cycle past the Natural History Museum, I pretend it’s Hogwarts.
