Silvia Busuioc was born September 7, 1989 in Chisinau, Moldova. Her artistic career started from an early age through dancing. At the age of 7 she started studying modern dance, latino, jazz, tango, progressing also with hip-hop and belly dancing. By the age of 12 she was performing in many dance shows on Moldavian National TV and at numerous theaters and cultural institutions in Moldova and Ukraine with her dancing group.
In 2002, whilst attending national state school studying foreign languages, she also began studying in the private school of performing arts in Chisnau, where she took her first acting classes, as well as photography, arts, fashion, aesthetics.
In 2006 Silvia Busuioc she began studying Radio Journalism at Centru Media Pentru Tineri (Moldavian Youth Cultural Center) and started her collaboration with national Radio Moldova, hosting youth radio programs.
In 2007 she took A-level Examinations at The International Cambridge School in Chisinau and graduated in Business Studies, Economics, English Language and Literature. In the same year she participated in the national youth competition, with an informational campaign against Tuberculosis through a series of short films written, directed and acted by participants, project sponsored by Caritas Moldova and sustained by Production Company Agentia Media Impact. Silvia Busuioc and 15 other students out of the country were selected to participate in writing and directing a short movie. As a result she wrote the script and acted as a lead in the short film “A doua Sansa” (Second Chance), which won the first place at national level. Afterwards she moved to Italy working as a model for numerous advertising campaigns and also made her first appearance on Italian TV whilst continuing her studies as an actress as well as dancing.
In 2008 she was selected to be part of a young theater group based in the Italian medieval city Cittadella. From collaboration with the group she secured the role of Gertrude in the comic parody of Hamlet and acted for two years in the play “Amletie” in Italian theaters.
In 2009 Silvia Busuioc started her studies in performing arts at the State University of Milan, where she studied history of theater, arts, acting, cinema and television and from which she graduated in March 2012 with the graduation thesis titled “From Nabokov to Kubrick: ‘Lolita’ through literature, cinema, theater and music”. In the same year she won the role of Alda Merini, a famous Italian poetess, in the theater play dedicated to the poetess and based on her biography and poems “DiVerso…Amore” (Different …Love). Silvia played a young Alda Merini unjustly detained in a psychiatric asylum by her husband. The play received great reviews and gave Silvia the opportunity to express her acting skills in a very difficult role.
In 2010 Silvia Busuioc starts an important collaboration with Italian National Television Productions, starting with Telelombardia, Antena 3, SKY, where she acted in and hosted the TV Shows “Festa in Piazza” and “Chiedimi una Canzone”, shows based on Italian comedy, dance and music. This collaboration continued till the end of 2012 and contributed to her success in Italy.
In 2011 Silvia started to work with the Italian director Rocco Ricciardulli for the play “Animelle! Un euro al chilo”, where she got the lead role of Lilia. The main topic of the play is human trafficking, violence towards women and prostitution. The play was on European Tour participating at Fringe Festival and was also picked up by the Italian Embassy in Romania, where the play was shown in the country’s main theaters gaining great reviews and success. Silvia became part of the theater group Rain Italy, based in Milan and later went on to become part of the cast in the short film “Occhi”, which deals with the problem of woman’s image ruined by advertising and mass media.
Between 2011 and 2012 Silvia played in numerous theatrical plays based on social problems and cultural differences, as in the play “Gli incubi del geco”, a play written by Madagascar writer Jean- Luc Raharimanana, about African wars, suffering and genocide as a result of cultural differences and backgrounds.
In 2013 she is cast as a lead role for the second and third season of the most watched Italian TV series “Fuoriclasse” directed by Riccardo Donna. The series was shot in Turin during the summer 2013 and summer 2014. Broadcasted in February 2014 and March 2015 on Rai Uno. Silvia’s artistic background, outstanding acting abilities and knowledge of five different languages convinces the production that she is the perfect match for the role, who speaks fluently: Russian, Italian, English and German in different episodes of the show with a medium audience share of 6 million viewers per episode.
Based on her rich curriculum, motivation, multicultural background and artistic working experience, in 2012 she was confirmed as a foreign guest at “The Actors Studio” in Hollywood, her position approved by the artistic director of the studio, Martin Landau, and because of her dedication and passion for her craft she was invited to continue her work at the studio till present day.
